A Few Things My Friends Like According to the Facebook Recommended Pages

What does this survey says about me and my friends? How is this helpful to brands who would like to set-up their very own Facebook Page? According to a research presented during a social networking event I attended to just this morning, user activity related to this shows that a large margin of Facebook users aged 17-25 tend to “Like” celebrity pages both local and international. It’s true based on what I’ve gathered from this little experiment/research I did.

This is contrary to popular belief that people tend to associate celebrities specially local ones as “baduy”. I believe though, that despite thinking show business is baduy, Facebook users are amazed how easy it is for them to connect to people they usually only just see on TV or movies. This is why the second highest group of people Facebook users follow are musicians or bands. These are celebrities that used to be hard to reach or connect with, but here they are, interacting with their fans on a social networking site.

One of the least followed group are brands. Specially those who make Facebook page with the main purpose of promoting or selling a particular product. It is said that people are more engaged to brands that are seen making a community rather than promoting such as Fully Booked and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Philippines. I “Like” both of these Facebook pages.
